Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in the filed of Mechanical Engineering.

Candidates musty have at least four (4) years of teaching and research at University level since
being appointed as Lecturer and should have been involved in the supervision of postgraduate
students.

The must have at least two (2) articles in refereed journal(s) since being appointed.

Publication of a book relevant to the discipline by a reputable publisher will be an added
advantage.

They must have proof of relevant administrative experience, and should have been engaged in an
active and effective teaching and research work evidence of continued education such as
attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops should be included.

They should show evidence of contribution to university life. They should be either registered
engineers or be eligible for registration with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.

Membership of a professional body such as the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) will be an
added advantage.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and post-graduate
levels, supervise higher degree students, and initiate and direct relevant research projects in the
department.

Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma of the Kenya National Examinations Council in
Water Engineering with clear bias for Public Health/Water quality and at least three years working
experience in a relevant area.

The successful candidate will be expected to be in charge of a modern Water Quality Laboratory
\serving Students at both undergraduate and Postgraduate levels as well as Commercial clients.

Department of Biological Sciences
Senior Lecturer

(1 Position) – AC/106/07/2009

Applicants should be holders of a PHD degree or its equivalent in Medical Microbiology, Virology or
bacteriology from a recognized University. They must have at least 5 years of teaching experience
as a lecturer at University level or Research fellow in a Research
Institution.

They must also have published at least five papers in refereed journals and should show evidence
of continuing research, participation and contribution at learned conferences, seminars and
workshops. Evidence of quality supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is
mandatory.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses,
conduct research, supervise students and actively contribute to building a strong training and
research culture in the Department.

(2 Positions) – AC/107/07/2009

Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent from a recognized University and with
specialization in any of the following areas: Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Ethnobotany,
Ethnopharmacognosy or alternative medicine.

Applicants should have a minimum of 2 1⁄2 years teaching experience as Lecturer at University
level or Research Fellow in a Research Institution.

They must also have at least two publications in refereed journals.

The applicants should be able to teach Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, conduct
research, supervise students and actively participate in Departmental activities

Applicants must have a BSc. Degree (1st Class Honours) in Microbiology or its equivalent from a
recognized University.

They should demonstrate clear potential for staff development by enrolling for Masters’ degree
course in Microbiology or related disciplines.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in tutorials and conduct laboratory
practicals at Undergraduate level for academic advancement within the Department.

Applicants must have minimum qualifications of HND from a Government recognized institution
based on Science Laboratory techniques with a training background on Biochemistry, analytical
chemistry or Biological/medical laboratory techniques.

The candidate should have worked in a Biochemistry teaching or research laboratory and should
have hand-on experiences on broad analytical instrumentation, animal tissue preparative
techniques and routine chemicals reagent preparative methods.
In addition the candidate should be able to prepare and present practical to the students, assist in
research and be prepared to handle large volume of work. The candidate will be expected to work
with minimum or no supervision.

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years experience.

He/She should have a Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from Kenya Medical Training
College or any recognized institution.

Post Basic training (HND) in either Pediatric, Orthopedics, ENT Ophthalmology, Reproductive
Health etc. Those with ART Management and or Medical Counseling may also be considered.

Applicants should have three (3) years working experience after internship and must be registered
with the Clinical Officers Council.

Duties and responsibilities include examining, diagnosing and treating patients at the University

Meteorological Records Clerks
A/B/C (1Position) – ADM/08/07/2009

Applicants should have a minimum of KCE Division II or its equivalent. They must also be holders
of world Meteorological Organization (WMO) Class IV Certificate, from a recognized Institution.

They should have at least three (3) years working experience (preferably in an
institution of higher learning).

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the running of the institution’s
Meteorological Station, maintenance of equipment in use in the station, in addition to assisting all
users with required information on Meteorological data.

Applicants should have a KCSE mean grade of D plain and above or its equivalent. He/she should
have a certificate in any of the following areas:- Nurse Aid, pharmacy assistant, records (with
proven relevant work experience).

Those with First Aid Certificate/Counseling/Home Based Care will have an added
advantage.

Candidates should have experience of at least three (3) years in a busy hospital set up.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities include working under the direction of the Clinical Officer or Nurse,
cleaning, pre-packing medicine and any other duties that may be assigned to him/her.

Candidates are expected to work in any of the university clinics country-wide
