Core Network Support Engineer - Safaricom

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Core Network Planning and Support Department within the Technical Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Core Network Support Engineer
REF: TECHNICAL_CNSE_JAN 2010
Reporting to the Principle Engineer; Core Network Planning and Support the holder of the position will provide long term core network solutions and support, interface with the supplier of the core network equipment to upgrade subsystems, perform major configurations and maintenance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analysis of all switching network elements logs and routine maintenance tasks and Database audit;
• Clearance of faults escalated from 1st Line maintenance team;
• Acceptance of all switching network elements and new technologies;
• Configuration changes on Network elements S/W upgrades;

Minimum requirements:

University degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering;

• 5 years working experience in Telecommunications with at least 2 years experience in GSM NSS environment;
• Analytical & problem solving skills when handling faults;
• Must be able to work without supervision and meet tight deadlines/schedules;
• Analytical , problem solving skills;
• Proactive & self motivated;
