Information Systems Assistant, Nairobi

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. ICT Research a) Provide full range technical assistance in the area of ICT research and solution recommendation. b) Identify UN and industry ICT best practices. c) Review and obtain information sources in ICT. d) Prepare, maintain, and update files and internal databases. e) Draft correspondence and communications. f) Assist in the design and documentation of more complex workflow procedures.

2. ICT Standards and Solution Recommendations a) Act as a client contact point for ICTS services and provide advise on ICT standards and workflow processes. b) Participate in development, testing and implementation of ICT solutions. c) Perform testing of new hardware/software. d) Review IT requirements for purchasing departments and advice on the best ICT equipment configuration.
3. Smartphone Email Services Server and Client Support a) Provide technical assistance in the area of Smartphone email service administration and support. b) Respond to requests for deploying/configuring ICTS Smartphone email application. c) Perform client orientation on use of the Smartphone email application. d) Perform testing of new/alternative Smartphone hardware and email applications. e) Perform Smartphone service software updates on servers and supported client devices.

4. Server Operations and Administration a) Provide technical assistance for McAfee ePO (Policy Orchestrator) and Windows Software Updated Server (WSUS) operations and administration. b) Develop and enforce client policies. c) Perform testing of the Windows Operating System and Application updates on PCs and the ICTS Local Area Network (LAN). d) Implement backups of servers and undertake troubleshooting. e) Act as problem escalation point for staff at lower levels and perform 2nd level troubleshooting of assigned systems.

5. Wireless Broadband Services Coordination and Support a) Provide technical assistance in the area of Wireless Broadband service coordination and support. b) Coordinate with UN Procurement, ICT administration, Senior Managers and Contractors on installation. c) Diagnose and resolve Wireless Broadband Installation and connectivity problems. d) Provide training to Senior Managers on the use of the installed systems and applications.

6. Desktop Administration and Configuration a) Provide technical assistance and team supervision in desktop administration. b) Coordinate with other departments on issues affecting desktop administration and configuration. c) Oversee software distribution updates, scripting, testing and support; perform research into new version and manage beta testing, production rollout and post production support. d) Perform 2nd level desktop troubleshooting. e) Provide technical advice to clients, provide orientation and training to technical staff. f) Design and implement solutions for simple problems, assist in research and resolution of complex problem.

7. Project Management and Supervision a) Serve as team leader in projects. b) Plan, schedule and coordinate the work of the team. c) Provide guidance and training to junior/new staff.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education
Completion of secondary education; supplemental courses/technical certificate in information technology or other related field; certification in CCNA, ITIL and ISO27001 an advantage; an associate university degree or equivalent in computer science/information technology is desirable.

Work Experience
Seven years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in the information technology field including experience in information systems administration and maintenance, ICT research or related area. Experience in IT project management and IT services support desirable.
