FIDA (Federation of Women Lawyers)- Reproductive Health Rights Officer – TRANSFORMATIVE JUSTICE TEAM

Duties: – •
  • Analyzing proposed and existing laws and policies on reproductive health rights
  • Preparing position papers and making presentations in forums on reproductive health rights
  • Preparing memoranda to different authorities on reproductive health rights
  • Organizing and facilitating in workshops on reproductive health rights
  • Commissioning, supervising, editing and generally managing the undertaking of researches under the programme.
  • Management, coordination and implementation of reproductive health rights programme from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Developing policy briefs and other IEC materials on reproductive health rights.
  • Development of proposals for funding and cultivating a good relationship with all partners.
  • Representing the Organization in International, Regional and National platforms.
  • Supervising assistant program officer and interns.
  • Maintaining FIDA Kenya networks related to the program.
  • Be the point person for the PP Global /FIDA Kenya advocacy project under the Reproductive Health and Rights Alliance
  • Communicate and provide updates specifically to PPFA and among other key FIDA Kenya development partners on reproductive health rights
  • Liaise with PPFA on a weekly basis on programme implementation
  • Liaise with Finance department on financial management
  • Internal and external reporting to donors and other partners

Qualifications and Attributes: -
The ideal candidate should posses the following qualifications and attributes:-
  • Bachelor of Law Degree or its equivalent from a reputable institution. A Masters in related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • At least four years experience in reproductive health rights and programme management
  • Have broad issues of reproductive health rights and the law and justice,
  • Skills and experience in project management
  • Computer proficient
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and writing skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, handle multiple tasks and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Legal Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in appointment of defense lawyers where action is brought against the company and ensure at all times the advocates work in the best interest of the Company.
  • Assist in recovery of company outlay from negligent third parties.
  • Assist to negotiate amicably, out of court settlements.
  • Review investigation reports, to ensure that they are comprehensive enough to meet the need for which they were sought, and recommend remedial action as necessary
  • Assist in processing of payments to claimants and service providers
  • Assist in legal research and preparing legal opinions to both external and internal clients.
  • With the assistance of Senior legal officer, respond to any correspondence and/or enquiries regarding claims legal issues.
  • Maintain adequate reserves for legal claims.
  • Preparing legal documents as required.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Law degree.
  • Advocate of the High Court.
  • Two years relevant experience.
  • Experience in working with the insurance industry will be an added advantage.

    2. Head of Administration

    Reporting to the Deputy Director Finance and Administration, the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to ensure provision of effective and efficient administrative services.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulating and reviewing policies related to administration functions.
  • Ensuring insurance policies and related services are acquired.
  • Ensuring offices, office equipment/furniture and supplies are provided.
  • Ensuring grounds are maintained and utilities provided.
  • Coordinating and liaising with service providers in relation to outsourced services
  • Developing and implementing disposal plan for obsolete, unusable stores & equipment and recommending appropriate disposal procedures on disposable assets to the Board of Survey.

    Reporting to the Director, the overall responsibility will be to ensure effective and efficient management of corporate affairs and compliance with enabling legal matters and other relevant legislations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advising the board and management on all legal matters
  • Ensuring that the corporation complies with statutory and other regulatory requirements
  • Representing the Service in Court and arbitrations as may be required
  • Coordinating all litigations in liaison with the Attorney General’s Chambers, Government Ministries and external lawyersDrawing and processing legal notices and other gazettements that are issued under the requirements of the Wildlife (Conservation and Management) Act

    4. Legal Officer

    Two (2) Posts

    Reporting to the Corporation Secretary, the overall responsibility will be handling of legal and secretarial matters within the organization

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participating in drawing and vetting of contracts, leases.
  • Liaison with external lawyers on court cases for or against the company.
  • Ensuring company cases are defended before the courts successfully
  • Compiling information and evidence on cases
  • Participating in negotiations of treaties and contracts between the company and other parties/organizations.
  • Providing legal opinions/advice and reports on legal matters as required.
  • Interpreting legal instruments and statutes.
  • Participating in filing and maintenance court proceedingsSafe custody of company documents, other records and securities
  • Negotiating disputes with customers and other parties with a view to settling them out of court

    Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution
  • Post graduate Diploma in Law and Advocate of the High court.
  • Three (3) years working experience in a large institution.
  • Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID

    5. Architect

    One (1) Post

    Reporting to the Head of Building and Fences Department, the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to provide architectural designs and drafting services.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare architectural plans; provide information regarding design, structure specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Consult with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of structure.
  • Direct activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Plan layout of projects.
  • Prepare contract documents for building contractors.
  • Prepare scale drawings.
  • Conduct periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Prepare operating and maintenance manuals and reports.

    Job Requirements

  • BSc. Architectural Engineering or equivalent
  • Diploma in Architecture
  • Certification in Auto-Aided Design
  • Must be a Registered Engineer
  • Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID

    Kenya Utalii College- CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER

    CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER

    Key responsibilities:
    • Advise the Board and Management on all legal matters affecting the College.
    • Prepare and execute legal documents.
    • Representing the College in legal cases instituted by or against the College.
    • Institute court actions to recover College debts.
    • Liaise with extemal lawyers on College legal matters.
    • Arrange, co-ordinate and prepare agenda and take minutes for Board meetings.
    Applicants for the above post must have:
    • A degree in Law from a recognized University.
    • Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
    • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and CPS (K).
    • Valid practicing license.
    • At least ten (10) years relevantwork experience, three (3) of which must be at a senior level with a reputable organization.
    • A Masters Degree in law will be an added advantage.
    • An understanding of the strategic direction and goals of the organization and how to intertwine legal requirements with these goals.
