Senior Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Engineer will:

  • Supervise external contractors working for the company, schedule site meetings and attend the meeting as the secretary
  • Supervise graduate engineers and technicians including managing their performance
  • Design and prepare drawings for civil engineering projectsprepare tender documents and carry out tender evaluations
  • Ensure works are measured and prepare payment certificates for the contractors
  • Monitor and control the projects to ensure that they are completed on time and within the budget
  • Plan materials requirement, liaise with procurement unit and the stores to ensure that materials are available on time while controlling the levels of inventory

    Desired Competencies/Qualifications:

  • BSC in civil Engineering from a recognized university

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

    Workshop Administration Manager

    Reporting to the General Manager - Services, the Workshop Administration Manager will be responsible for:

  • Fuel administration across the regional fuel stations including stock level, receiving and issuing records
  • Managing the workshop store and constantly monitoring stock levels
  • Managing the process of scrapping workshop itemsmaintaining the muster roll for the services department
  • Ensuring that vehicle service records are kept up to date and that service schedules are well kept
  • Ensuring that the office, workshop compound and wash bay areas are clean and tidy all the time
  • Maintain the asset register for all machines and vehicles
  • Establish and maintain methods of consistently tracking productivity, efficiency and work quality
  • Manage individual employee performance and effectiveness
  • Manage department expenses effectively

    Desired Competencies/Qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering and/ or management related discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant experience
  • Well developed IT skills including Ms Office packages
  • Excellent managerial and administrative skills
  • Working knowledge of a fleet management system
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and unquestionable integrity

    POWER UTILITY ENGINEER REF: TECHNICAL_SDMPE_AUGUST 2011

    Reporting to the Senior Manager-Regional Network Rollout-Western; the holder of the position will be responsible for power connection and dimensioning for BTS sites within Safaricom and KPLC specifications and Safaricom CAPEX Budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee commercial power contractors during installation and commissioning of KPLC power lines;
    • Verification of site power connection costs to ensure conformity to contract and actual scope;
    • Coordinate power dimensioning for existing BTS sites required in optimization and upgrade projects;
    • Ensure timely application for commercial power and approval by KPLC;
    • Acceptance of all completed power works to ensure they satisfy all Safaricom requirements, KPLC’s Technical specifications, and are done in accordance with KPLC code of practice;
    • Database management and administration.

    Minimum requirements

    • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineer with a bias in Power Systems;
    • A minimum 2 years relevant experience in Electrical Power Installations, Switchgear, and Control systems part of which should be in power utility company;
    • Electrical experience in a Telecommunications environment is an added advantage;

    ROAMING SERVICE ENGINEER

    Reporting to the Senior Manager VAS Support, the holder of the position will be responsible for the Roaming services offered to safaricom subscribes. The main duty is roaming services technical support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Service quality management. Ensure roaming service continuously perform within or exceed KPI, ensure ability of the network to support specific forms of traffic and to support end user experience SLAs.

    Mobile Core Network Engineer

    Our client, a leading telecommunication mobile service provider is urgently looking for Mobile Core Network Engineer;
    Job description/responsibilities:
    • Provide 2nd level O&M (Hardware & Software) for GSM core network.
    • MSC SERVER, MGW, SIWF, IGWB support.
    • Subscriber complains handling.
    • Integration support: Support testing between E/// MSC/VLR to HLR/AUC, BSC, SCP, VMS, SMS, GMLC,GPRS,e.t.c.
    GPRS, etc.
    • Implementation of any cutover of new services, major network changes, and checking statistics after implementation.
    • Approving the work-orders prepared and checked by DT group before loading to re-evaluate the affect on the network.
    • Providing technical support for integrating any new services/projects.
    • Providing technical support for other departments in STC for any technical issues related to Directpoint nodes as Engineering, Performance, Quality, Billing, and Customer Care, Provisioning & Mediation.
    • Providing technical support for inter-working problems with other vendors.
    • Providing second line and 24-hour support for all Directpoint nodes (MSC SERVER/MGW/SIWF/IGWB) escalated from NMC surveillance & Field Engineers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analysis of all switching network elements logs and routine maintenance tasks and Database audit;
    • Clearance of faults escalated from 1st Line maintenance team;
    • Acceptance of all switching network elements and new technologies;
    • Configuration changes on Network elements S/W upgrades;


    Minimum requirements:

    • Promotion of sustainable management natural forest resources for woodfuel production.

    Kenya Utalii College - Technical Assistant ( Motovehicle)

    TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (MOTOR VEHICLE)
    Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Officer, the Technical Assistant (Motor Vehicle) will be responsible for maintenance of College vehicles.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all College vehicles are in good working condition.
    • Carryout preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis.
    • Execute corrective maintenance and vehicle repair.

    • A minimum of Government of Kenya Trade Test grade I (mechanical or auto electrical).

    Job Purpose

    The successful candidate will join a team of professionals responsible for overseeing the maintenance of
    the Refinery plant, pipelines, tanks, construction projects as well as involvement in all new works
    comprising process plants, fuel storage facilities and utilities.

    Qualifications
    The ideal candidate will:
    · Be a holder of minimum Higher National Diploma in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
    · Have strong bias to engineering design and draughtsmaship.
    · Have at least 4 years experience in busy engineering environment, involving process piping and
    structural steel designs. Experience in civil, electrical and instrumentation drawings is an added
    advantage.
    · Have excellent skills in Auto Cad , and other relevant design packages,
    · Be between 25 – 35 years of age.
    · Be a highly motivated, result oriented, self-driven and innovative individual.
    · Industry development courses in relevant field(s) will be an added advantage.
