Deputy Logistics Coordinator

The Deputy Logistics Coordinator has overall supervision of camp activities including distribution of Food and None Food Items (NFI) and Warehousing practices. He/ she, has the mandate of sector staff supervision. The holder of this position works with the refugee community to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs') for General Food Distribution are well understood by all stakeholders including beneficiaries. You will ensure that the Food and NFI items are distributed in an orderly, safe and equitable way.

Key duties and responsibilities for this position include;

  • Overseeing of General Food and NFIs' distribution activities in the refugee camps, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of Logistics services (Warehousing transactions) within CARE Kenya in Dadaab;
  • Enforcing Logistics Standard Operating Procedures and practices, preparation of various Donor reports in a timely manner as per the donor reporting guidelines.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for staff management in the Logistics sector including conducting Annual Performance Appraisal of sector staff as per Organizational policies and designing or identifying appropriate staff development interventions.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management, or Purchasing and Supply Management or Business Administration.
  • Holders of Diploma in these areas may be considered depending on their experience and length of service in similar positions.
  • Five years experience in a busy Logistics office preferably with an international NGO and a good working knowledge of Logistics procedures, systems and donor (WFP, UNHCR) reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change and accepting work assignments outside normal working hours.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and excellent command of English and Kiswahili languages.
